Business in the World Today

As the dominance of the technology and the internet becomes more prevalent in the world of business more businesses move to online. Along the way the business world is slowly losing its customer service. I say this because if you try and contact a company you end up spending more time just trying to get to an actual person to talk too. Don’t get me wrong there are still businesses out there that will answer their phones. However, they are becoming less and less every year.

Now days many companies have a phone system that is a computer automated response system. These companies feel their system has everything a customer needs and so they don’t have a customer service team anymore. Even if you are lucky to finally get to talk to a live person, they cannot answer any questions and will tell you someone will get back to you shorty. That someone comes in the form of an email generated by a computer that really doesn’t answer your questions or solve your problems.

I have been in the business world for over forty years and on thing I have found there is no substitution for customer service and by this, I mean person to person conversation. I found a lot of problems that customers have can be solved if they can talk with someone that understands the problem and has the authority to resolve it.

If you look at people in today’s business world there are many who cannot cope with having a conversation with someone without a computer or cell phone. Our loss of social skills is becoming more prevalent as the world’s technology grows. It is the opinion of this writer that as technology takes over our social skills diminish and so does our society.
