As young children, you could always find us together at the river fishing or swimming. We told each other everything in those days. As we grew older, miles separated us due to jobs and families. David was always there for me in times of need. I loved him and will miss his presence daily, but he will forever hold a special place in my heart.David and his nephew John Honaker : Once he asked me to cut his grass every week. He didn’t like the way I cut it so he said get off the mower I’ll show you how I want it cut. He got on and started the lawn mower, making several trips around the yard only to realize he never turned the mower blades on! He said he thought they came on with the lawn mower. After I would come help him with yard work, he would let me go swimming in the pool and then he would take me to the local sandwich shop and buy each of us an ice cream. One time we were at a store and we got outside trying to get to the parking lot and the traffic was so bad, I said how are we going to get to the other side with all this traffic? He said it’s easy, just walk out in front of the cars, they’ll stop! 😂David was born June 1955 to the late Julia Anthony and John Huling Honaker Jr. He grew up in Wilmington Delaware, attending Christ Our King Catholic School until 8th grade and then Salasianum Catholic School in Elkton, Maryland.
