SAYACINTAINDONESIA — Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir inaugurated the Pos Bloc public creative space that optimizes the Philately Building, in Central Jakarta, Indonesia, Sunday (10/10/2021).
Combining the concepts of the past and the present, Pos Bloc is a unique hangout place. There, visitors can travel as well as learn the history of the post.
If a traveler often visits the Pasar Baru area, Central Jakarta is certainly no stranger to the large white building next to the Santa Ursula School. The building was formerly known as the Philatelic Building which has now been transformed into a creative space called Pos Bloc. Not only prepared a creative center, but there is also a media center where YouTubers can come to create content, or podcasters can record voices there
Pos Bloc was established as a result of a collaboration between PT Pos Indonesia and PT Ruang Kreatif Pos, a subsidiary of the Radar Ruang Riang business group that manages M Bloc Space in South Jakarta.
Pos Bloc Jakarta utilizes the assets of the former Dutch East Indies era Post Office Building covering an area of 7,000 square meters owned by PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) which has been converted into a creative space for various arts, culture, entertainment, creative community meetings, and business empowerment of MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), and SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises). It is hoped that these various activities will have a social and economic impact on the surrounding environment.
When entering the building, a traveler can see a line of MSMEs shops that sell various items ranging from clothing, culinary, to antiques. There is also a co-working space that is suitable for people to discuss and work. Another fun activity is that travelers can do photo sessions using an automatic image-taking machine called Photomatics. This spot is always hunted by visitors.
But what makes Pos Bloc even more interesting is its location inside a Dutch heritage building. This building used to function as the largest Post Office in the Dutch East Indies. This building was also designated by the DKI Jakarta provincial government as a Cultural Conservation Building.
Now, in the historic building that has been designated by the DKI Jakarta provincial government as a Cultural Heritage Building, various tenants have been present, namely Mini M Bloc Market (grocery store), Twalen (Balinese cuisine), Coldheart (beverage shop), Canggu Bakehouse (cake shop), Filosofi Kopi (coffee shop), Bakmi Sedjuk (noodle shop), Damn! I Love Indonesia (fashion shop), Huma Ide (gelato shop), Via Bata Via (antique shop), Photomatics (photo shop), Gyujin Teppan (Japanese cuisine), Coquito (Mexican cuisine), Roti Bakar Kemang (food stall) , Communion (sneaker shop), Picknick Yuk with Nona Manis (picnic food), Nastar by Ritz (nastar shop), Sovlo (accessories shop), Jamune (herbal medicine shop), Panama (slipper shop), Heiya (soft drinks), Esteboo (cane ice shop), and of course Pos Indonesia (post office).
